„Girgvliani Amendments" was registered at the bureau

145th Session of the Bureau of the Parliament

1.  The initiative of the parliamentary fraction ‘’Georgian Dream’’, regarding the amendments to the law on Criminal code, known as ‘’Gvirgvliani Amendments’’, was registered at the bureau.

According to the initiative :

  • A new composition shall be added regarding giving illegal orders or instructions by the public political officials, which shall be punished with imprisonment up to 5-8 years.  It also determines various aggravating factors (issuing an illegal order or a task to intentionally distort the privacy of individual, or intentionally carry out other acts of intentional injury, humiliating, inhuman or degrading treatment, sexually explicit acts or other cases) with relevant judgments.

  • A new composition shall be added about abusing power or position by public political officials. This actions were determined direct or indirect offer to a person for the purpose of interfering with the proceedings, in the in order to compensate, cover or notify a severe or particularly grave offence. This action shall be punished with imprisonment up to  4-7 years, or deprivation of the right to hold an office or carry out activities up to 3 years.

  • Compulsion to give testimonios by a public officials, shall be punished with imprisonment up to 6-9 years, or deprivation of the right to hold an office or carry out activities up 1-3 years.

  • The code shall add consistence about covering offence of a close relative without prior promise by public political officials official shall be punished by imprisonment up to 5-8 years, or deprivation of the right to hold an office or carry out activities up to 3 years.

  • The failure to notify information about offence by public political official shall be punished by a fine or imprisonment up to of 3-5 years, or deprivation of the right to hold an office or carry out activities up to 3 years.
